With winter officially behind us and another amazing ski season in the books, we’re looking eagerly ahead to summertime and all the incredible summer adventures that await here in Aspen Snowmass. Because as much fun as it is to visit Snowmass in the winter, there are even more ways to explore in summertime!

Snowmass is truly a special and unique destination in summer, overflowing with outdoor opportunities and fun activities for every member of the family and folks of all ages.

While the list of things to do in Snowmass in the summer and compelling reasons to visit is virtually endless, we’ve compiled a list here of our Top Six Reasons to Visit Aspen Snowmass in Summertime.

  1. The weather is unbeatable! With high temperatures averaging in the mid-70s to low 80s for most of the summer months and all the sunshine you could ask for, the climate is perfect for enjoying outdoor activities during the day. At night, temperatures typically dip back down into the 40s to 50s, which makes for beautiful cool evenings to take in the stunning sunsets or soak up the incredible stargazing under Snowmass’ renowned clear night skies. Low humidity is an added bonus to help keep you feeling cooler while exploring the mountains, and when afternoon showers do roll through, they make the landscape pop with gorgeous vibrant shades of green and give the trails a wonderful refresh. In short, Snowmass summer weather is as good as it gets. If you’re ready for a break from hot, humid summers, it’s time to book your stay!

From biking to running to hiking and more, there is a trail for all abilities, and most can ultimately be accessed right from your door at Woodrun V! 1. Did someone say wildflowers?! There’s no doubt that all the scenery Snowmass has to offer in summer is stunning, but the wildflowers are truly a highlight. From Aster to Indian Paintbrush, to Alpine Sunflower and Lupines, to Colorado’s famous high mountain Columbines, the landscape across Snowmass explodes with color in the summer months as various wildflowers bloom and thrive. The best place to see them, of course, is out in the wild – so be sure to hit the trails to take maximum advantage of this glorious and fleeting annual show of colors, shapes, and beauty.
  1. Family fun in the sun. Snowmass is one of the best vacation destinations for families not only in winter, but all year long. There’s no shortage of fun family activities in summertime. With plenty of kid-friendly hikes and bike rides, as well as wildflower and wildlife viewing, hitting the trails as a family is a must-do. Snowmass Village and Elk Camp provide a mecca of kid-friendly outdoor activities, from disc golf to paintball, to climbing walls, to the Lost Forest exploration center. The Snowmass Village Recreation Center offers multiple heated pools, a waterslide, climbing walls, a skate park, volleyball courts and more. All in all, Snowmass is an epicenter of summer fun for kids and their families.

  1. Summer lift service delivers the goods. At Snowmass, the lifts don’t stop spinning in summer. And they become a gateway to countless new ways to enjoy the mountain! The Snowmass Bike Park serves up over 25 miles of gold-level gravity-fed trails, from flowy beginner-friendly singletrack to challenging technical descents for experts, with nearly 3,000 vertical feet from top to base. The park also offers bike rentals, clinics and camps, to help you make the most of your experience. Not a rider? Sightseeing rides on the Elk Camp Gondola or chairlift are your ticket to expanded trail access and breathtaking views from what truly feels like the top of the world!
  1. Summer events! As in winter, Snowmass’ calendar is packed full of fun events all summer long. From the free weekly Snowmass Summer Concert Series at Fanny Hill (just across the way from our luxury residences at Woodrun V!) to the Snowmass Rodeo on Wednesday nights, to highly anticipated annual events like Cidermass at Snowmass Mall and Aspen Food & Wine Festival, there are so many different ways to get festive with friends and celebrate the summer season in style.
